The Texas Big Board: Proven Here. Prepared For More.
The Big Board is a recruiting evaluation system designed to recognize Texas high school wrestlers who have established themselves as legitimate college prospects. Each athlete has earned a one-to-four-star rating based on competitive results, quality of competition, national and state-level achievement, recruiting projection, and important intangibles such as work ethic, coachability, improvement, professionalism, and respect for the sport.
Every wrestler included on The Big Board is an accomplished athlete. The star ratings are intended to distinguish different levels of achievement and future potential—not to diminish anyone’s résumé. Earning a place on The Big Board at any level is a significant recognition.

The Profile
A 4-star wrestler has demonstrated the ability to compete with and defeat the best wrestlers in the country. These athletes combine elite national results with consistent dominance against top competition.
Recruiting Outlook
A nationally recognized, blue-chip recruit with the potential to become an immediate college contributor and compete for All-American and National Championship honors.
The Profile
A 3-star wrestler has established a strong national résumé and is consistently among the best wrestlers in Texas. These athletes have proven they can succeed against high-level competition on major stages.

A 2-star wrestler has achieved significant success at the state level and has demonstrated the ability to compete against strong regional and national competition. These athletes have established themselves as accomplished and dependable performers.

The Profile
A 1-star wrestler has built an impressive high school résumé and demonstrated the ability to succeed against quality competition. These athletes have earned recognition through strong postseason results, consistency, and continued development.

A legitimate college prospect with proven high school success, valuable competitive experience, and the potential to contribute and continue developing within a college program.
The Intangibles
The Intangibles accounts for important qualities that may not be fully captured by results alone.
When assigning a wrestler's star rating, consideration will be given to their love of the sport, work ethic, coachability, upward trajectory, and rate of improvement.
Professionalism, maturity, respect for coaches, opponents, officials, and the wrestling community will also be considered.
These intangibles can strengthen a wrestler's recruiting projection, particularly when an athlete is rapidly developing or consistently demonstrates the habits and character needed to succeed at the college level.
The Intangibles does not replace competitive accomplishments, but it provides valuable context when evaluating a wrestler's complete body of work and future potential.
